Screening of Human Representation-Machine, Human-Representation Machine, Human-Representation-Machine (2018) as part of the exhibition ecosytem UX, User Experience, U and X, currently at A Tale of A Tub.

Whether abstractly or quite concretely: the human represents. And by representing the human becomes, in turn, inevitably, represented. Identifying limits, hierarchies or degrees of freedom within the various systems implicated in (self-)representation may initially appear reasonably straightforward when the human body is understood as the locus of creativity. If we consider the human body’s technoculturally mediated experience the task becomes slightly more challenging: who or what enables and drives representation? By experimenting with the visual language of 3D videogame design, this brief film-essay analyzes the human-representation-machine continuum as a platform for the evolution of cognitive feedback, and considers this physiosemiotechnology as an inseparable trinity.
