I am Welton Santos
From the transcripts that Sofia Caesar amassed from her interviews with Welton Santos, a rhabdomantist and architect from Brazil, she created the reading performance I am Welton Santos (2014-2016). In this work, the exhibition space becomes the interview set, where the audience transforms the dialogue between Welton and his interviewer into a polyphony of improvised actions, interpretations, and sounds. The performance proposes Santos’ practice of dowsing as a tool for opening up moments of emancipation in the interview and in the navigation of Justus van Effencomplex.
I am Welton Santos was made in collaboration with Welton Santos, design studio Tiradentes, and A.pass participants.
