In April, we began our search for new board members and are now incredibly excited to welcome Susan Gibb, Arnold Lubbers and Noëlle van den Dungen to the team.

In April, we began our search for new board members and are now incredibly excited to welcome Susan Gibb, Arnold Lubbers and Noëlle van den Dungen to the team.

SUSAN GIBB is an arts manager and curator who is interested in the conditions that shape artistic production, often working in long-term engagements with artists on the creation of new work. She currently holds the position of Executive Director at Western Front, a multidisciplinary artist-run centre in Vancouver and has previously worked as a curator at If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution, Amsterdam (2013–19); Carriageworks, Sydney (2011–12); and Campbelltown Arts Centre, Sydney (2009–11). She also ran the independent curatorial initiative Society (2011–12) and has taught curating and performance at the Dutch Art Institute and the School for New Dance Development. Susan will join the board as our new Treasurer.

ARNOLD LUBBERS is a policy officer at NWO (Dutch Research Council) and holds a PhD in immaterial cultural heritage studies. He coordinates the programme Caribbean Research and is project leader on Inclusion and Social Safety. He additionally acts as an advisor to the Mondriaan Fonds. Arnold’s board experience is vast, including serving as supervisory board member of Ellae—a Rotterdam-based platform that seeks to close the gender, cultural and socioeconomic gap in the arts, culture and media sector—and as a board member of House of Knowledge—another Rotterdam-based organisation that empowers the musical scene through educational programs rooted in lived experiences, community building, mental health and Black culture. Groninger by birth, he now lives happily in Schiedam with his partner and two sons. Arnold will join the board as a General Member.

NOËLLE VAN DEN DUNGEN is a Rotterdammer who knows A Tale of A Tub inside and out, having been involved with our organisation as a host since 2022. She has a background in design and philosophy, has a love for the cultural and arts sector and is a maker herself. She previously worked as a social designer and now as a policy advisor in the social domain at Gemeente Schiedam. Noëlle will join the board in the newly established position of Junior Member, a role aimed at providing first-time board experience and expanding our commitment to fostering young makers to other facets of the institution.

Susan, Noëlle and Arnold will join Jessy Koeiman, who has been guiding us as a member of the board since 2022. With the welcoming of the new members, we in turn say farewell and a very big thank you to Vinod Singh and Norbert De Munnik, who have served one and two full terms respectively and who have contributed invaluably to the development of A Tale of A Tub. We’ll miss you!
